Advocacia e rupturas políticas: uma análise bourdieusiana da atuação da oab em dois momentos políticos, o golpe civil-militar de 1964 e o impeachment de 2016

Abstract

The present study proposes an analysis of the performance of the Brazilian Bar Association in the 1964 civil-military coup and in the process of impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff in 2016, using records from the two historical moments. Based on the Bourdieusian method of analysis, based on three fundamental concepts - field, habitus and capital - one will seek to break with the dichotomy between individual and structure that permeates social analyzes, carrying out a socio-historical study of both the structures that give background to the dispute over capitals and of the social subjects involved. Restricting the analysis to two specific fields, the legal field - represented by the OAB - and the political one (without, however, ignoring the pressure exerted by the economic field), one observes the imposition of the politician on the legal, making this yields to external pressures due to its low autonomy and the need for capital accumulation.
