A responsabilidade penal de jogadores de futebol envolvidos na manipulação de apostas esportivas

Abstract

This monograph aims to analyze the criminal liability of soccer players involved in sports betting manipulation schemes, a practice that has become increasingly common in the Brazilian scenario, addressing the historical evolution of gambling, the emergence and expansion of betting houses, as well as the impacts of this practice on the integrity of the sport. Based on the study of the crime of fraud, provided for in article 171 of the Penal Code, it seeks to understand how the conduct of athletes can fall under this criminal type. It concludes that, although sports sanctions have been applied more frequently, there is still a weakness in the criminal liability of those involved, revealing the need for greater rigor in the application of the law and legislative advances that accompany the current reality of sports betting in the country
